For the second year in a row, Guzel, a Ph.D. student in the University of Houston’s Biomedical Engineering Department, has been awarded the prestigious American Heart Association (AHA) Predoctoral Fellowship for 2026.
Building on her previously funded project, “Novel optogenetics tool for mouse embryonic cardiodynamic research,” Guzel’s work focuses on advancing our understanding of early cardiac development using cutting-edge imaging and optogenetic technologies.
