As part of the strategic plan for improving health and healthy communities, we aim to leverage novel wearable technologies for remote health and wellness to prevent and manage diseases. This partnership between the patient and the physician should be facilitated through the use of novel platforms such as intelligent, low-cost wearables, and related innovative medical devices and platforms.  Design and use of these technologies could enhance and promote the development of community-specific healthcare innovations that meet the unique needs of each community. It is crucial to use intelligent wearable technologies to empower patients to take charge of their own health by taking steps to improve their lifestyle, diets, and habits. These new technologies can help clinicians assist patients remotely in their homes using user-friendly technology and point-of-care diagnostics.
