1. What are the admission requirements for the Biomedical Engineering undergraduate program?
Biomedical Engineering follows the admission requirements established by the Cullen College of Engineering.
2. Will my courses from Houston Community College, Lone Star College, or another institution transfer?
The University of Houston uses the Texas Common Course Numbering System (TCCNS) to evaluate transfer credit from Texas public colleges and universities. Students can review course equivalencies using the UH Transfer Credit Estimator and the TCCNS transfer guides.
3. How is Advanced Placement (AP) credit evaluated?
Visit the Transferring Credit webpage to view accepted AP exams, minimum scores, and corresponding UH course credit.
4. Do I need to take the Math Placement Exam?
If you do not have credit for MATH 2312 (Precalculus) or MATH 2413 (Calculus I) through transfer credit, AP credit, or another approved source, you must complete the Math Placement Exam. For more information, see the Math Placement FAQs.
5. I am a current UH student and want to change my major to Biomedical Engineering. What should I do?
Current UH students interested in changing their major to Biomedical Engineering should submit a Major Change Request Form and meet the College of Engineering change-of-major requirements. If you have questions about the process, please contact the Undergraduate Advisor at bmeugrad [at] central.uh.edu (bmeugrad[at]central[dot]uh[dot]edu).
